Announcing the First Share Your Shutters Winner of 2017!

Neil Blackwelder

A new year means new opportunities to revamp your interior design, and beautiful new shots of shutters in houses in Charlotte and across the country. It also means a new winner for our Share Your Shutters contest, and the first of 2017 is Katie S. of Elk Grove, California for her Polywood® plantation shutters.

Elk Grove is located in Northern California and is just one of the many places around the U.S. in which homes can benefit from Polywood shutters year-round. Even when slightly ajar like in Katie’s photo submission, plantation shutters block a huge amount of sunlight from entering the home. In Elk Grove or in Charlotte, that’s a boon to any design-minded homeowner who wants a lot of customizability in their space.

Plantation shutters also block energy transfer through the windows, which means they’re ideal for homeowners who experience scorching summers or cold winters, or who just want to maximize their home’s energy efficiency. That means a cozier home and money saved each month with lower energy bills.

Katie’s shutters also capitalize on some newer home design trends. Neutral-toned backgrounds such as her beige wall are becoming extremely stylish, with contrasting instances of colors–in this example the white of the Polywood shutters–working as points of interest throughout the room. Available in different white and off-white colors, plantation shutters can fill a great niche in modern home design.

As our winner, Katie wins a $100 gift card to a nearby restaurant, in addition to having her plantation shutters featured alongside our previous winners.
